fresh 21.1 MATE install: Firefox crashing in Yahoo Email

Post by bob12564 »

We have 2 identical old HP laptops. One is happily running Mint 20.3 MATE. The other was on 19.3 MATE and working well. Today I did a fresh install of 21.1 MATE to replace 19.3. Everything is seemingly working, except Firefox and Chromium when reading certain messages within Yahoo email. Most messages open fine, but certain messages crash the system and I'm kicked out to the login screen. I can access the same messages and the crash will happen reliably in both browsers.

I tried a live session from the USB stick and Firefox works fine. I'm not an advanced user, so I'm just looking for something that will get the laptop working properly again. I'm ready to try a fresh install of 20.3 since that seems to work OK on the other laptop. But I invested a couple hours on this and if it can be salvaged, that would be great. Many thanks for any help anyone can provide.

These are my system details as reported by the system reports utility:
