MP3 quality in sound-juicer

Post by BubbaBlues »

In ripping CDs with sound juicer to mp3 format, how can I adjust the quality? The best setting in it is only 128 kb/s and I would hardly call that quality. Is
there a way to get say, 192 kb/s? The setting says CD quality and 128 isn't even close. :? "Helena"

Here's a real "round-about" approach you might want to try for high quality mp3s:

1. Change the settings in Sound Juicer to output to flac.
2. Take the flac output files and run them through Audacity for the conversion. In Audacity you can adjust the output to whatever you want as far as bit rate etc.

Obviously, the filesizes will increase quite a bit as the quality increases. Just a side note, check out the spec's on your playback mechanism and see what it's supporting. If the device supports 128kbs, there's no sense in generating .mp3s at 256kbs.

As always with Linux, just one of many ways of approaching a solution... :D

I use Sound Converter - it will handle up to 320kbps for mp3s. Of course that may not be of great interest to you if you have other reasons for liking Sound Juicer.

Sound Converter will not handle the initial CD ripping - only the conversion from one format to another.
