Compiz Fusion question concerning processor load

Post by nelamvr6 » Tue Jul 31, 2007 11:16 pm

I'm really impressed with Compiz Fusion so far.

But one question occurred to me, is all this eye candy coming at the expense of my computer's performance?

I mean, I hope that Linux is smart enough to offload all this grunt work to my whiz bang graphics card. But is it? Anyone know?

So far I haven't noticed my system slowing...

I can't answer specifically for Compiz, but generally 3D don't burden the processor much while 2D graphics can be a heavy burden. I think it's mostly (all?) in 3D
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
