How to associate application with apt://firefox

Post by _HG_ »

At Community.Linuxmint.com I am clicking the "Install" button for installing Firefox 3.6 :
http://community.linuxmint.com/index.ph ... ew/firefox
I am running the Swedish version of Linux Mint 8 and Firefox 3.5.8 and when I click the button I get the message:
Firefox does not know how to open this address, because the protocol (apt) is not associated with any application.
I have translated the Swedish message to English. Maybe it differ from the original English message.

How do I make Firefox associate apt:// with the software installer ?

The translation is correct. That is exactly what the English error message says in the same circumstances.

The solution is to install Apturl from Package Manager. This will allow Firefox (or any other browser) to do what you are trying.
