uninstall google earth

I installed google earth on Mint 8 Gnome from the software manager. It would start, but crash almost immediately. I think this is a video card problem. In the process of trying to get it to work, I tried the method of downloading the .bin file from google and installing that. It didn't fix the crash problem. Now, I can't figure out how to uninstall it. It doesn't show up in synaptic as installed. Trying to uninstall from a terminal window (sudo apt-get remove googleearth) gives me the response that it isn't installed so it can't be removed. It shows up as an available application under menu>internet. It is installed because it opens and crashes just as it did when I installed from the software manager. How do I uninstall this application? Thanks
