Graphic Card Driver

Postby scratch2.0 » Thu May 20, 2010 9:10 am

i have a problem with my sound and nvidia graphic card on my sony vaio vpcf11s1e with Linux Mint 9
i got the nvidia gt 330m

and i think lots of users have problems with that one.
when i turn on the proprietary driver my screen goes black after the log in. (had to reinstall linux mint to get my screen back)
and my sound also doesnt work.
there is a soundcard on the nvidia and one on the motherboard i think.

There is a driver on the nvidia homepage, but im not sure if that a good idea to install it manually,
i read in some boards thats not working either.
in the softwaremanager is also lots of stuff for nvidia but dont know if thats working and when yes which one
Does somebody knows what to do?
i really love linux mint and im looking forward to remove windows when the graphics are working.

A graphics card's job is complex, but its principles and components are easy to understand. I have downloaded a driver file from the Intel Express 3D graphics card. This driver package contains the version 3.7 drivers for Windows 95 OSR2.X and Windows 98, and the version 4.0 drivers for Windows NT 4.0. For OpenGL API support, it includes an Installable Client Driver (ICD) for Windows 95/98 and a Mini-Client Driver (MCD) for Windows NT.
