I'm trying to configure Vidalia to Tor because the bloody tor site gave me just tor instead of tor+vidalia+proxivity. I've got it all now but I don't know how to restart tor thru the terminal which is preventing me from using vidalia. So how do I do it? It's driving me mad.

And, to answer the question.. Starting tor in console is as easy as typing:

sudo tor

that didn't fix it. Whatever, I'll just do everything thru editing the torrc file...*sigh*

Fix what? Your barely readable rant asked how to start tor in console.

I don't know the answer to the question, but the answer to the subject line is:

HUP is a nice option for kill. Used like 'kill -HUP n' where n is the process ID. It's an abbreviation for hangup I believe.
