bash_history size

Post by COKEDUDE » Fri Jun 18, 2010 1:54 am

How do you set the bash_history size when using the .bashrc file and setting the "HISTSIZE=9000" doesn't work? Is there another file in Mint that I need to to edit?

If you want the variable set in .bashrc, put this in .bashrc

Code: Select all

export HISTSIZE=9000
Doing HISTSIZE=9000 won't work unless you export the variable.

Is there a way to check that it was successfully exported?
