I like youtube-dl, it's the simplest and easiest to use I've found. Run

Code: Select all

man youtube-dl
for a list of its options.

Minitube Version 1 in Software Manager of LM9, think it is part of the LM9 main package under Sound & Video.

You don't need a program. Goto youtube, wait for the video to completely buffer, then go to your tmp folder (two levels below your user home folder). Inside the tmp folder is the FLV of the movie you watched on youtube. You can copy/paste it to wherever you want. :)

There are more than one greasemonkry scripts that will give you a link to download right next to the video.

I believe the most popular one is 'better youtube'

This is by far the easiest and simplest. No need to wait for it to buffer or fully load, easy as.

You must not absolutely use a browser. As I said in another post elsewhere in the forum for instance you can also use ellTube, a QT app for downloading and converting from youTube, Sinthgunt also can download and convert from youTube. Miro can "Search, download, and save videos... from YouTube, Google Video, Blip, and more. You can even save a search term and automatically get new videos as they are posted." (Quote from the Miro site) etc :D
