Amarok doesn't working

Hello, I'm sure my problem was already discussed here, but I can't find it :-/ sorry

I just installed Amarok, cause I don't like Rhytmbox, but if I want to add music to the collection it isn't finding anything. if I add some music directly to the playlist it is displayed there but it can't be played by Amarok.

I have Isadora 64bit and Gnome

Greetings Don

You do know that Amarok is KDE :?:
From settings>open configure Amarok>collections>check your music folder(s)(might also want to check watch folder for changes) >OK>quit Amarok >start Amarok your music will show on left side(Might take awhile for large collections) :)
Also while in settings under general>check remember current play list on exit to save your playlist when you quit Amarok :)
Whats wrong with Rhytmbox :?: If you have an I-Pod or music player they will work better in Rhytmbox :!:

yes i know that :-) formerly i used KDE, but I've tried GNOME and I like it much more^^
but Amarok should work with GNOME, says the german Wikipedia.

yeah, I have done this yet, but it wasn't working. it isn't finding any music-data. And if I'm add music manually (drag&drop) it can't play this :-/ or if I add with Amarok himself ("Datei öffnen") so it don't show any music in the directories (in Nautilus the music is there) :-/ probably i should tell you that my collection is on a FAT32 partition fix mounted.
Whats wrong with Rhytmbox :?:
I miss some features & functions :-)

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install libxine1-ffmpeg
Run that command in terminal, that'll fix it, just done that to mine yesterday, the problem is amarok can't play mp3 out of the box :D

Thank you, that solved one of my problems, now Amarok can play music, but I still can't add music to it's library. the music is in the directories but it does not add them :-/

Where is your music folder located :?: If not already you might need to put your music in your Home folder :) Since you are using a Windows File System does Amarok link to it?

Ive not noticed this before, i dont use libraries, just file browsing mode but the same thing happens on my machine too, not a problem though, if it helps find a cure my music is in the home/music folder, its a linux mint9 gnome single boot setup.
