Software to virtually control another PC

Post by jimisbell »

I am running Mint 8 on an AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core processor 5900+ at 2.9Ghz with 4gb memory and a 1TB HD

I have an HP ThinClient that is a dedicated computer for my Magic Jack telephone system

When using Free spire I was able to control the ThinClient from the Linux PC using a program called "Tight VNC"

Is there a version of this that will run on Mint 8 and where can I find it?

Yep, search for xtightvncviewer in the software manager or just type

Code: Select all

apt install xtightvncviewer
into the terminal.

You get to it by typing

Code: Select all

xtightvncviewer <ip_address>
where <ip_address> is the ip of the computer you want to control eg 192.168.0.5 then type in the password for it
