Picasa: GUI or CL?

Post by runbux »

I was considering installing Picasa 3.0.5744-02 from the Synaptic Package Manager repositories in Linix Mint 10.0

The "Get Screenshot" link downloads a small terminal screen icon, which I gather means it is a command line application.

Is Picasa 3.0.5744-02 from the Mint repositories GUI based or command line. I will install it only if it is GUI based.

So I download the Picasa package from the repositories. Synaptic says "changes applied" but when I start Picasa from the menu, it wants to run an "Installer!" This package should be removed from the repositories immediately.

Why does this company make everything so convoluted?

BTW, I never made it to the actual application, but all I saw was text screens.

Problem Solved!

I found that the application GThumb does quite a nice job uploading photos to Picasa.

Picasa is a GUI, if I recall correctly the 1st time it is ran after the install it shows a couple of text screens with the license aggrement and a couple of others then the GUI starts. I personally prefer it over the other photo management programs available for Linux. Have been using since the early Linux days and also back in my Windoze days.
