KMyMoney2

Post by Eggnog »

Does anyone know whether KMyMoney2 works okay in standard Mint? I'm looking for an alternative for Quicken 2009 (so I don't have to run in a Win VM) and it seems to have some nice features, but it's a KDE app. I know some KDE apps work well in GNOME and some don't work so well. What I like about KMyMoney2 is that it appears to be able to import my Quicken QIF files.

I'm trying to distance myself from Win 7 as much as possible, but I need a good financial app to feel good about doing it.

Gnucash is a good one for GTK. KMyMoney is good for Qt, as well. I am unsure about Quicken files, but you can check their documentation.

My needs are simple, so I use HomeBank.
Current hardware: a Dell OptiPlex 3010 desktop, a Dell Inspiron 531 desktop, and a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop.
Current OS: LMDE 3

Yes, it works perfectly in the Mint Main edition and also in LMDE. When you mark it in Package Manager for installation, it will pull in all the KDE dependencies.

I have tried GnuCash - the Gnome accounting program, several times but much prefer KMyMoneuy2.

Hi
Yes works perfectly and have both KMymoney2 and GNU Cash side by side deciding which I like best.

If you in a non US country and using Gnome desktop then also install SystemSettings for KDE.

This is not normally installed but allows you to get the date format right for your country.

Start SystemSettings from the Control Centre then go to Locale and set country info and KmyMoney will follow suit.

Good Luck
