Microsoft Silver Light Linux Alternative????

Post by rfbennett1 »

I'm trying to listen to the radio but it keeps telling me "install microsoft silverlight" so i click the link but it comes up with "The web page at http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight ... =2.0&v=1.0 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error."

Any ideas?

Thanx :D

P.S. Here is the radio station im trying to listen to http://radio.securenetsystems.net/radio ... gn=CENTRAL

I think Moonlight is what you need (the open source equivalent of Silverlight). IIRC it usually lags a version or two behind Silverlight, but it might work for you anyway.

I forget if it's in the Mint repositories. If it's not, you can get it here:

http://www.mono-project.com/Moonlight

There may be some additional configuring you have to do to point this station and all future radio stations of this type to Moonlight. (Not sure, I never use Moonlight and very rarely listen to Internet radio.)
