Cannot Uninstall Opera 11.10

Post by Isthmus »

Is Opera integrated into mint for some reason? I ask because I side-loaded Opera 11.11 from a deb package. at the end of the install I got a notice sayingthat an older version of opera was already installed.

Originally I had installed Opera from the mint repositories, but decided that I wanted one directly from opera, so I uninstalled it. I simply went into themint menu, right clicked on opera and hit uninstall. It went through the process and Opera was apparently gone).

I went into synaptic after getting error message and found opera 11.10 (from the mint repos) still there. I tagged it for removal and while synaptic allowed med to select it, the apply button remains grayed out, so I can't uninstall it. You can see what I mean here

Any thoughts on how to get rid of opera 11.10 if Synaptic won't do it?

no need for the eye roll. Yes tried both apt-get remove opera and apt-get remove --purge opera. in both cases I got a message it was unable to remove the var files. I can get you the exact message if you want.

tried it with synaptic turned off and go the first message. yet Opera is still there. No worries. I have another problem with LM11 that it seems a fresh install is the best solution. At least I'll know what to avoid this time. Thanks for all the great help guys, I'm going to reinstall and just side load from the start so as to avoid the conflict.

On a side note, opera was NOT installed for me.

BUT, there was a opera config file on home. Clearly it was tested with opera.

I use 11.11 and just love it.

Yeah I'm really liking LM11, but I do have to say that this has been the most problematic LM install I've done to date. Normally they've been rock solid and stable from the get go. This one thus far has been a wee bit more buggy. It's noticeably slicker though.

LM 11 rock solid stable and problem free on the first 9 systems.

x64 and x86

Only one I had problem with was a 4 year old build. Took me a hour longer was all lol.

I was talking about opera 11.11 bro lol
