Vmware Player

Postby Gnipper » Fri Dec 21, 2007 1:58 am

Hi,

Just recently installed Linux Mint and am very impressed so far. What's the easiest/best way to install Vmware Player?

Well Vmware server is in the repos, but not player
I found this description for Gutsy which probably will work equally well in Daryna

It's obvious that the author does not command the english language to well, but it's no problem to understand. I have not tested though as I already have Virtualbox which you find in the software portal

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it

you can go to the link below and download VMWare Workstation and build as many virtual workstations as you like free for one month

http://www.vmware.com/download/ws/

then you uninstall you VMWare but make a note of the folder where your virtual workstations are kept, then go to the link below and download VMWare Player which is free and you can continue to use all your virtual workstations

Or use Vmware Player and the guide here: VMWare Player Image Creation . Works great on both win and unix.

Another good alternative is InnoTek VirtualBox, which is the package "virtualbox" I believe.

How does VMware work with Linux Mint? Will I be able to run iTunes (and connect to an iPod & Internet)? Will it run MS apps like MS Money and Streets & Trips? Does it access the USB port when needed? Thanks.
