open office and new ms file formats

Is there any way to teach openoffice to open the new ms file formats docx etc etc?
I am still on Celena.

My OOO opens docx without any problem, I should dive in and see what's been done...
BTW docx is just a zipped xml-file, so if you change the extension to zip you can open it with fileroller...

I was able to open such a file recently (it was an Excel 2007 format I think). The file format wasn't registered in the system so (double-)clicking on the icon would not open it, but it could be opened from Calc "File->Open" menu.
