TWO BatteyLifeExtender programs...
Yep. I got 2 (probably PEBKAC issue). I can't find either in Synaptic or anywhere on my computer. How do I get rid of one? (or both and reinstall?)?

A bit more info: I got these packages installed that deal with battery:
acpid
gnome-power-manager
laptop-mode-tools
powertop
maybe more?

There is probably few programs that help extend battery life. powertop is the best choice though it helps only a little.

I have the battery saving software: too much of it. I have a duplicate that I can't find out how to get rid of; that's the issue.

Could you list the energy saving software you installed?
Some power manage programs are integrated in LM, such as acpid, gnome-power-manager and pm-utils.
