Re: Beeping in head phones SOLVED

Hi
I am trying to take an online Morse code course.
THe Free talk head phones have a mike that seems to work fine.
I get a periodic beep, beep, beep in my ears.
I have done the settings in the control panel sound sections.
I have not found a solution to the d**n beep.
This time I do not get the beep. I don't know why.
Dennis

Hi dkwflight.

Silly question here, but is it possible it's the Morse site trying to send you a message?

Also, are the headphones the plug-in kind or Bluetooth? If BT, maybe it's a low battery warning? With either, there's the small possibility it's System Sounds caused by your actions. The Playback tab of PulseAudio Volume Control can silence those.

Hi
These are USB type and no the web site is not sending the beeps.
I have confirmed this. I get the beeps connected to the morse trainer site or not.
Thanks

Next time it happens, run lsmod | grep pcspkr in the terminal, and if it gives an output, then run sudo rmmod pcspkr and see if that stops it.

If that doesn't work, run alsamixer in the terminal. Press F6 when it opens to choose the USB headphones, and see if there is a "Beep" column. If there is, arrow over to it then press the m key to mute it.

Yeah. I'm starting to think it was quite likely the battery. Next time they beep, see if charging immediately stops it.

Solved
I am pretty certain the head phones have an internal battery charged through the USB connection.
Any way no more beeps
