I've been trying to watch CSPAN and someone in the opensuse forum gave me this link to a Firefox add-on:

It worked in openSuse and it also worked with Mplayer in Mint 5, except when clicking on other links on their site it wants to open Totem (which doesn't work) and if I want to use Mplayer I don't know where or what file for Mplayer to select. Where would it be?

Try to open the MediaPlayerConnectivity settings and in the mediaplayer tag set /usr/bin/mplayer or /usr/bin/gmplayer instead of /usr/bin/totem
