flickering VLC mplayer and other Linux Mint default players

The video flickers and and this flickering video shows right through other windows .
And why does Opera video look so bad compared to FF. Something to do do with codecs, but don't know anything about all that. Damn I miss Windows . Using VLC Thanks

hey i have this problem as well!! do you use google earth? it flickers with google earth as well in mine.
i clicked get codecs in the administration menu and the dvd worked before it but doesn't now...

anyone know whats up? or how to delete an update in the codecs?

i'm using linux mint 6 thanks

sorry should have looked in other posts first.

turn off compiz fusion...
in 'appearance' choose off and it should be ok...
