I think a special mint edition for musicians or a
easy installation of a kx studio package or maybe
merging the two projects like a Mint Kx Studio edition (i use kde)
Will be a major success for the two distros
I have always problems with kxstudio inside Mint as well as
a huge number of people
Im Portuguese and a newbie in forums (the rules), etc
Sorry for bad English, maybe this thread should be written in other way
Please tell me so i can made a new one instead of
merging with a similar because i have very diferent ideas on
the future of this one, i hope
I switched from SuSE to Mint after more than a decade with it
I would really like to help to make this distro even better
OPEN SOURCE PLUS LINUX MINT WILL RULE !!!
HAPPY 2017 ✌

Hi "disorder69",
Always backup before installing anything that could have system wide (systemic) effects, like "KXStudio" for KDE users only (I think) or Ubuntu Studios...

Using whatever kernel you are currenting using, booted into, you can run the command below. My guess is that you would have to run this command again, if you update the Linux Kernel.
I tried to run the command using my current Linux Kernel 4.11.7, but it wanted to install the 4.4 low-latency kernel, so I stopped the update.
So, how do you install a "low-latency" kernel for the kernel you are using, the "Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)"?
Or
Download deb files and install from
"Index of /~kernel-ppa/mainline", link for all kernels
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
using the Mainline, here is a link to low latency deb files for my Kernel, but what do you install first, the Linux headers or the Linux image ?
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.11.7/
OR
How to install the latest/stable version of Linux kernel on Ubuntu, July 22, 2017
https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/installin ... h-apt-get/
Update: I downloaded and installed the low-latency Kernel deb files from the "MainLine" link for my Kernel and installed them, and it worked, see screenshot. When I update to another Kernel, I will have to do this again.
Questions: Out of curiosity, why wouldn't everyone want a low-latency or Real Time (RT) Kernel? Why is that not the default? Which is better Low-Latency or RT Kernel?
Hope this helps ...

"Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)"
ubuntustudio-default-settings
This package contains the default settings used by Ubuntu Studio. It sets
the session name, menu icon, backdrops for lightdm and the session. It
sets grub to default to the latest lowlatency kernel even if a newer
generic kernel exists. It also sets various audio related system settings.
