RT3090 Bluetooth not working Linux Mint Sara

Post by michael61182 » Mon Mar 06, 2017 12:09 am

I've scoured the internet desperately trying to fix my bluetooth on Linux mint Sara 18.

When I open bluetooth manager it looks at if its frozen. Under devices the circle that spins when thinking is frozen and it never finds my BT devices. I have tried a number of different possible solutions and have installed Bluez and some other Bluez stuff.

I dont always know what I'm doing when running commands in terminal, however I am fairly confident in attempting solutions. Right now I cannot open Blueman-bluetooth, I keep getting error Bluez Daemon is not running. However I was able to get it started one time, although was not able to connect any devices.

Can someone please walk me through steps to resolution?

Hi there

First thing to do is install blueman manager and remove blueberry this way you will only have one icon next two the clock and blueman has more features.. I am using a different device than you on my laptop which is a USB device. Your device is built in on your wireless card.

we can perform the install and uninstall tasks with the terminal you can copy and paste each one at a time in the terminal and press enter each time.

sudo apt update

sudo apt remove blueberry

sudo apt install blueman

Once this is completed. when the device connects you will see something like this which is blueman.

Next you need to right click on your sound icon and scroll up to output device and change it to your BT device. if you are pairing a headset or speaker than you should hear sound when the connection is made.

Ultimately I'd like to connect a 8BITDO NES PRO remote, but I could test BT with different speakers or headphones as well (UE Roll 2, Motorola S11, Beats headphones...).

Currently the issues is I'm receiving the above posted error when attempting to open BT manager.

What ever you installed to try to get the remote connected remove it if you remember what you installed. Below is what I have on this laptop as a guide. I am using a BT USB adapter.
Bluetooth installs.png
For the bluez fail message

Ok lets try this I would copy and paste this one

Code: Select all

sudo /etc/init.d/bluetooth start
Than turn on a speaker device and type the command below [depending on the device this may find nothing but you may hear a sound from thr BT device. I just want to see if this if the BT

Code: Select all

hcitool scan
To get the sound to the BT device if all is well right click the speaker icon and scroll up to output device and select the BT device if listed here.

Now NES PRO This is what I found on this remote. Try to use it with the USB cable

Update the firmware
http://8bitdo.com/nes30pro/Firmware.html

Found this

This remote may be to new for the BT version used right now in Ubuntu which Linux Mint is based.
