Volume buttons on keyboard

Post by Santino1 »

Hi,
I have another issue with my Mint 18.1 KDE. So, after installing Linux, I have had some problems with sound(solved problem in BIOS), and I fixed sound and now it works fine, but I noticed that I can't seen volume icon in panel. This is not problem, but when I have tried volume up/down/mute buttons on keyboard, it doesn't work.

I have buttons on my keyboard that I want for another purpose, like the calculator and mute.
In your case, have you tried to use the custom hot key settings? I had an old keyboard that required me to set it up to use it.

In Control Center > Keyboard Shortcuts.

Select what you want and hit the button. You may find that they may be tied to another use, this will fix that too.

I've had similar issues before, and sometimes going into settings > keyboard and finding an entry in the hardware list that matches your make/model the best will fix things.
