Nemo & Sound-Juicer CDaudio error

Post by plAsirius »

Hi,
I found the following problem on 2 PCs running same LinuxMint 18.2 ( Linux sirius 4.10.0-37-generic #41~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 6 22:42:59 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux) up-to-date

- insert a CDaudio and get this type of error: Impossible de monter Disque audio (Sélection_634.png)
- open Sound-Juicer : Impossible de lire le CD ( Sélection_635.png)

Looked in the logs for error messages, and found some like:

in /var/log/syslog
Oct 16 12:50:25 sirius org.gtk.vfs.Daemon[3248]: ** (gvfsd:3331): WARNING **: dbus_mount_reply: Error from org.gtk.vfs.Mountable.mount(): Message recipient disconnected from message bus without replying

in /var/log/syslog
Oct 16 12:52:41 sirius kernel: [12380.417331] pool[18007]: segfault at 7f7df30feb9a ip 00007f7df2388cc0 sp 00007f7deedfeff0 error 4 in libc-2.23.so[7f7df233a000+1c0000]

I can read the CDaudio with VLC from /dev/sr0 without problem.

Any idea ?

Thx

Pierre

Hi "plAsirius",

It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run "inxi -Fxzd" and "lsusb" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information.

Did you install the 3rd party multimedia packages during the installation of Linux Mint? If not install "mint-meta-codecs". I would also install "ubuntu-restricted-extras" from the Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager.

You can go into the "Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)" and look for Sound-Juicer and right click it and install any recommended and suggested packages. If you are ripping music or audio CD discs, then there are these applications as well, "SoundKonverter" (excellent), Asunder, etc... "Freac" is great, but installs differently.

Hope this helps ...
