"The media could not be played" when playing Twitter videos

Postby thehoggle » Wed Oct 18, 2017 12:08 pm

When I try to play Twitter videos in either Chrome Version 62.0.3202.62 (Official Build) (64-bit) or Firefox 56 (64-bit) I get "The media could not be played". I wonder could I be missing a codec? In Synaptic meta-mint-codecs are installed (2015.06.11).

Version of Linux Mint is 17.3 I searched this forum and some people had similar problem but no real fix mentioned. Does Twitter use HTML5 for video processing? My HTML5 test results are http://html5te.st/ae8adb39490dbe1f

Cheers

I don't know what format twit(ter) uses but you can try an H264 codec in Chrome. There are a couple available as add-ons.
