strange problem.
analog plug on monitor = no sound (green connection on mainboard)
hdmi on monitor = no sound
analog earphone plug = sound (green connection on mainboard)
I'm using the implementet test + volume control. If i click on test sound the bar rises. Therefore the os says the sound should be there.
Also my earphone said that but everytime i connect with my monitor (hdmi or analog) nothing.
My monitor is ok i tested it with other non linux machines.
I have to say i'm new to linuxmint i have a fresh new actual installation.
thx for help.

Re: no sound with monitor only earphones
Very new hardware, judging by the BIOS date. So your kernel is probably too old for your computer.
First try the latest kernel of the 4.13 series:
Update Manager - panel: View - Linux kernels
After installing it, reboot.
If that doesn't help, try this:

if i click on view kernels i have the following types:
4.4, 4.8, 4.10 and 4.11
4.11 has the subcategories: 4.11.0-13 and 4.11.0-14 -> do you mean i should try this one: 4.11.0-13 ?

No. Try refreshing your Update Manager, and if that fails, try another mirror server.cybermailer wrote:if i click on view kernels i have the following types:
