No sound when connected to HDMI

Post by MrNoob82 »

Hi all, thanks for reading.

The issue is that when I connect the HDMI cable to my laptop (spec in my signature) there is no sound coming out.
HDMI audio is selected and is also selected in PulseAudio Volume Control. If I am using anything with sound, you get the sound bar moving about, but nothing comes out of the speakers.

I have also tried HDAJackretask, but this makes no difference either, Everything else works fine, as far as I can tell.

inxi -Fxz results below:

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I can still use on board speakers, just maxed out and it doesn't sound great as a result.

Many thanks!

I solved in this way:
sudo gedit /etc/pulse/default.pa
commented this line --> load-module module-switch-on-port-available
Saved
Switched my headphone jack from front-panel to back motherboard port and then reboot. Now it works fine.

I tried this, but the line you said to add was already there. Also, I'm not sure how to switch the headphone jack to outputting to the HDMI port...

headphone is analog, HDMI is digital sound.
