<SOLVED>4K video playback in Mint

Got myself a new 49 inch 4K monitor from TCL and a new GTX 1050 ti video card for black Friday and noticed that when I try to play some 4K video samples, there is tearing and some parts of the video get pixelated and off color or the video playback stops while the audio continues. I've tried both the included media player and VLC and the problems remain. Both pieces of hardware are hdmi 2.0 compliant so its either the video cable or something in Mint. I tried Compton as its know to help with tearing but no good. Any idea or info would be appreciated. Thanks

Ok, there are a couple of things you can do. Start NVIDIA X Server Settings. Go to the X Server Display Configuration tab. Down the bottom of the window there will be a button titled 'Save to X Configuration File'. Select this option and replace the period . with /etc/X11/xorg.conf, then click Save.

In your file manager, open the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and post its contents here. Please use the code tags.

Once I've got the contents of that file, I'll be able to show you what changes to make to it.

Looks like the problem was actually VLC player not handling 4K content well. I tried another video player and it worked well. Thanks.
