LM 18.3 Cinnamon - Blueman Issue after "Forget Device"

Post by Satori » Mon Dec 18, 2017 9:47 am

Hey all.

I've been using Blueman with great success and it has been working amazing. However recently I had to unpair and forget my connected devices. After they were forgotten, I was unable to get Blueman to recognize ANY bluetooth device, even if by all accounts it should recognize any device that is ready to be paired. Here is a screenshot of what happens when I ask it to search for new devices.

Bumping this since I've looked around and tried a number of steps that could have been the issue but still nothing. I installed the default LM 18.3 bluetooth manager and still it fails to find any devices. It keeps "searching" but nothing populates.

Thanks in advance for ideas/suggestions!

You can try in terminal

Code: Select all

bluetoothctl

Code: Select all

power on

Code: Select all

scan on
See if it finds any devices, use CTRL + d to exit bluetoothctl

I would shut it down and then boot it up and see if bluetooth works again

Nothing yet. I wonder if there's any other info that I can post here for people to determine where the glitch is though.

Also, Merry Xmas to all. :D By the way, I'm visiting Africa right now and I am fully aware that this "issue" is a very first-world problem to not have bluetooth.

Maybe it's got blocked somehow?

Code: Select all

rfkill list
If blocked, try:

Code: Select all

rfkill unblock bluetooth

That's also one of the things I had tried already with no success. Super confusing.

Were you able to get the bluetooth working?, I have the same issue, and I can't get my mouse to work :?

Hi Natalia,

Not yet. Bluetooth on Linux Mint has been a recurring issue for me for years and with different computers as well (this one is new specifically for Linux from System76). I'm surprised more people don't have these issues, or maybe fewer people use Bluetooth?

Bumping this since we need more eyes on it. Anyone that knows how to solve Bluetooth issues on LM18, a response would be much appreciated. I'm happy to provide any other info anyone needs.
