I have recently done a fresh install of Sylvia on my gaming rig and found the sound drivers to be behaving erratically. I have a 5.1 speaker system (Logitech X-530) that at first got detected correctly and were fine. Later I inserted my headphones for a while and from then on, I could never restore back the volume to all of my speakers... only the front middle speaker works, if I select "HD Audio Generic Analog Stereo" in the pulseaudio volume control and selecting "HDA NVIDIA Digital Stero (HDMI3)" yields no sound.
FWIW, I have re-installed alsa, pulseaudio and gnome-alsamixer but to no avail. Also, I can't seem to add the volume control applet back to the panel. (adding 'notification-applet' to the panel, or 'xfce4-volumed' didn't work). Any help would be gladly appreciated.
