Audio devices only showing up with dummy output. No audio

Post by lemonickous »

I have an ASUS FX553VD with dual boot Win10 and Mint 18.1. The only available drivers are for Windows 10, on the site and they are by Realtek. I was getting audio when I was installing mint out of the USB drive. however, since booting from my disk, it's only showing dummy output available. I tried purge removing and reinstalling alsa-base, pulseaudio, force restarting alsa, restarting my PC multiple times to no avail. I also verified that

Code: Select all

/etc/default/speech-dispatcher
has the line

Code: Select all

RUN=no
Following is the audio relevant output from my command

Code: Select all

lshw
*-multimedia
description: Audio device
product: Intel Corporation
vendor: Intel Corporation
physical id: 1f.3
bus info: pci@0000:00:1f.3
version: 31

capabilities: pm msi bus_master cap_list
configuration: driver=snd_hda_intel latency=32
resources: irq:130 memory:df420000-df423fff memory:df400000-df40ffff
aplay -l always gives me no soundcard detected.

Code: Select all

~ # aplay -l
aplay: device_list:268: no soundcards found...
More information:

Code: Select all

<pc name> # ps -ef | grep pulseaudio
lemonic+ 5747 1 0 22:06 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/pulseaudio --start --log-target=syslog
root 7065 2440 0 22:19 pts/0 00:00:00 grep --color=auto pulseaudio
I'd appreciate any help, thank you.
