default app when loading a dvd
When loading a dvd, linux mint 18 prompts for what app to run, and if you mistakenly select the wrong one (media player) and check always do this, you are never asked again and dvds never play again. How do I get this script to execute again to pick vlc as default? Thanks! David75

Re: default app when loading a dvd
This file has your custom settings:
edit it, look for a dvd-looking item and remove that line - it might be in two places!
You also might want to remove -
whatever = userapp-(something like media player)-funnynumber.desktop
Code: Select all
~/.config/mimeapps.list
You also might want to remove -
Code: Select all
~/.local/share/applications/whatever.desktop
Please edit your original post title to include [SOLVED] if/when it is solved!

Sorry, Flemur, I don't understand your instructions. What does this path mean? how do i find the file mimeapps.list? When I do a file search on mimeapps.list it doesn't find it.
Re: default app when loading a dvd
Try this:
When the wrong player starts just close it out then right-click the desktop icon and choose 'Open with' and select a different player.
You haven't indicated your desktop environment so specifics are not possible, but look at your file manger toolbar Edit/Preferences/Media
for dvd defaults.
You can also set this up to ask you every time.
