Firefox/Spotify problem since I use Linux Mint

Post by mb7 »

I switch with Mint 17 to Mint, from Ubuntu. Now I'm on 18.3 Cinnamon, with I7 4790k, MSI Z97 GAMING 5 (MS-7917), 980TI, 32GB RAM... Since Mint 17 I got this problem on 3 different PC's, any of them with a MSI Mainboard.

When I watch something over Firefox (YouTube or other streaming site's) or listen music over Spotify, the sound output sounds like "robocop", it's crinkle. But this happen sometimes, maybe in one week, sometimes after I listen 1-2h something over YouTube. No rule for that but I have 2 options to stop this.
1. I reboot and anything work perfect again
2. I take the window, where the sound come from and shake it until the sound get back to normal

Sry for my bad English but I hope it's ok, when I describe this also in German and someone can translate this for better understanding.

This never happen, when I play games over Steam, like Rocket League.

----------------------

I have the same problem.
When I listen to music over Spotify and than open Firefox the hole audio on my pc gets messed up. Even when I stop the process, the sound doesn't change.

I have an an Asus ROG Strix B350-f Gaming (Motherboard) and use the internal sound card. When I plug in a cheap USB soudcard and listen with it, the clicking and other noises go away.

Coming from Germany too.
