More ASUS E200HA Sound Issues

Post by ipstanton »

I've seen previous problems with ASUS E200HAs, and while I've tried advice from various forums I still have no sound.

I'm running Mint 18.3 xfce kernel 4.13.

USB ports work OK, no other hardware issues. When I click on the volume control applet I get a box that flashes several times and the message ''trying to connect to Pulseaudio" before it eventually shows the Pulse box. The only output device available is "analogue output". No input or recording devices are available.

I tried the Grippoentech script but that just tells me the .zip file is no longer available (ie I get a 404).

Running inxi gives me:

wilbur@wilbur-E200HA ~ $ inxi -A
Audio: Card Intel HDMI/DP LPE Audio driver: HdmiLpeAudio
Sound: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture v: k4.13.0-37-generic
wilbur@wilbur-E200HA ~ $ inxi
CPU~Quad core Intel Atom x5-Z8350 (-MCP-) speed/max~1440/1920 MHz Kernel~4.13.0-37-generic x86_64 Up~55 min Mem~1025.7/1888.3MB HDD~NA(-) Procs~198 Client~Shell inxi~2.2.35

Any advice please?

I haven't tried it on Linux Mint, but it does fix sound on Debian and Ubuntu, so you could try this: https://github.com/heikomat/linux/tree/ ... and_manual

If this does not help, let me know. I'm very interested in improving this solution.

That does work on mint xfce. But now I have a different problem. I have this notebook connected to TV via HDMI.

I only get sound trough laptop, no sound from TV. In port there is only "analog output".

I only started using linux yesterday so if you know a solution try to explain it in a simple way.

I also do not have an "airplane" mode option. Not a big deal, i can just turn off wifi, blutooth other way but how come that option is not there? a bug?

Another problem is that I can not connect my smartphone ( HTC desire 526 ) and transfer files from it ( video/pictures )

I get this :

One thing you could try is to close any open audio settings windows or dialogs, then, with the TV connected, open a Terminal & issue the command pulseaudio -k - then, after a short pause, check your audio settings again to see if the HDMI audio options have appeared.

Hi AsusSucks.

Is there any chance you disabled/blacklisted the HdmiLpeAudio when you were getting your sound issue fixed?

What is the result of running aplay -l in the terminal?

Does cat /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist_snd_hdmi_lpe_audio.conf return anything?

Thanks! This works on Mint 19 Tara.
