Re: LM 18.3 After assembling laptop sound not working.
Did you use a discharge mat or discharge the mobo before you started replacing the thermal paste?
I would personally try this:
1. Remove the battery from the laptop.
2. Unplug the AC adapter.
3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
4. Plug in the AC adapter.
5. Turn on laptop.
6. Check that sound and/or USB are working.
7. Replace battery.
If the laptop is more than 5 years old, I would replace the CMOS (RTC) battery on the mobo.
Disassemble the laptop and check for anything unplugged and/or broken.
If either doesn't work, the BIOS chip on the mobo may have been wiped by an electrical static discharge, or whatever.
Good luck.
