Computer Hardware
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (or equivalent)

Computer Operating System
Windows 7 or newer
Mac OS 10.7 or newer
You can use Chrome to watch Prime Video on Linux/UNIX operating systems (including Chrome OS).
Internet Connection
Standard Definition (SD) videos: 900 Kbits/sec
High Definition (HD) videos: 3.5 Mbits/sec
Note: Prime Video streaming is not supported through Virtual Private Network (VPN) or proxy connections. To watch Prime Video, you'll need to disable these services for your device or try switching to another available connection.

Web Browsers
Chrome (version 59 or newer)
Firefox (version 53 or newer)
Internet Explorer (version 11 or newer)
Microsoft Edge on Windows 10
Safari (version 10 or newer on Mac OS 10.12.1 or newer)
Opera (version 37 or newer)
Note: Firefox ESR is not supported at this time. Firefox ESR (Version 60) will be supported when it's available for the general public, which is approximately May 1, 2018.

Tip: To watch Prime Video on your computer, we recommend using a browser that supports our HTML5 video player. The HTML5 player is optimized to work with our service, and doesn't use separate browser plugins to play video content. It also supports video features like Auto Play, live streaming (for Prime Video Channels), and playback in full 1080p High Definition.

They don't mention supported Linux systems for HD specifically. You could try installing an extension in your web browser to spoof your browser identification string and make it appear as if it's running on Windows or OSX.

Have you checked the box in Firefox, Edit > Preferences > Play DRM-controlled content?

My pc specs are : Linux mint 18.3 cinnamon, 3.6.7 (kernel 4.13.0-41 generic).
intel core i5 2500k cpu @3.30Hz x 4
Mai memory 7.7 gig(8)
Hard drive 107.1 gig
nvidia 1c02 graphics card (nvidia gtx 1060 3 gig gpu)
37.47 Mbps download and 9.36 upload internet speed

This is all i have for you.....this is what amazon AND the hdcp requirements are:

You can only stream Prime Video content in HD through your computer's web browser if your computer and connected display screen meet HDCP requirements.

If your computer or connected display to not meet HDCP requirements, the video you're watching will play in Standard Definition, and you'll see an error message in the player window.

Note: Some Video Graphics Array (VGA) and Digital Visual Interface (DVI) connections and monitors don't support HDCP, which may prevent your computer from meeting HDCP requirements.

HI unionjak,

It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run "inxi -Fxzd" and "lsusb" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information.

When i used Amazon Prime before, I do not recall it having issues with using a VPN provider's servers that were located in the same country as your Amazon account?

Hi unionjak,

I do not see anything wrong with the results of the commands, except that your computer host name seems weird or maybe bad? video driver seems to be working well.

Seems like a really long host name and it can be easily changed. I think I read somewhere that it is a good idea to keep host names to 16 chars or less without unusual special characters or spaces, dashes and underlines are ok.

HI unionjak,

You are welcome...

I did not think changing your computer's host name would affect playing Amazon Prime videos in HD either, but it could affect other things.

Ok, now the only things I can think of regarding streaming Amazon Prime videos are:

- What monitor or monitors do you have connected to your desktop systems and how are they connected? Are they all capable of playing HD videos and video streams?
Note: Some Video Graphics Array (VGA) and Digital Visual Interfacce (DVI) connections and monitors don't support HDCP, which may prevent your computer from meeting HDCP requirements.

- Do any of your systems (2 desktops and tablet) work for viewing HD videos?

- What browsers are you using to view these in, or that you have tried, just Chrome and Firefox? Have you tried any of the extension add-ons to view in an external player, like for MPV, or VLC, or user defined (smplayer)? Opera browser has an option to open videos in its own window by default. The Slimjet browser works well with all Chrome extension add-ons and has many other great features.

- As I do not have or use Amazon Prime at the moment, I cannot test this (although I do think it is a great service). Are there any settings in your Prime account setup for streaming video? I never checked on this. I always used my Smart Blu-Ray DVD player for viewing Amazon.com's Prime Videos.
eligible Amazon Prime customers can now download movies to their mobile devices and watch them offline, eliminating the need for Wi-Fi. If you're eligible, you'll see a download option when browsing Prime Video shows and movies on a Kindle, Android or iOS device.

Just went on windows 10 and the nvidia controller software says both my monitor and card are HDCP compatible. There is no info box like that on the nvidia x server settings software for linux mint, which is a bit strange.....

HI unionjak,

Do you have the Nvidia settings icon in your system tray? There may also be other Nvidia control apps, applets, etc... in the "Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)".

Hope this helps ...
