No UPNP discovery

Hello, it seems that UPNP discovery are broken.
Neither VLC or Amarok can find my UPNP device, It works just fine in windows.

Is there any fix for this?

It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run "inxi -Fxzd" and "lsusb" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information.

First, try turning off (disabling) your Linux software firewall and restarting applications to see if you need to add a firewall rule(s) for incoming UPnP. For example: UMS (Ultimate Media Server) and PS3 Media Servers require port 5003 to be open and to allow incoming traffic.

I am not sure that my favorite music application Amarok supports UPnP/DLNA anymore, but it does have an option.

VLC does work with UPnP/DLNA, but it is sloooow in my experience in discovering UPnP/DLNA servers, once it does it is normal to play the content.

Depending upon your UPnP/DLNA server, you can also use a web interface to access multimedia content.

Kodi and Plex multimedia applications support UPnP/DLNA.

Hi supermag,

I do not see anything wrong with the results of the "inxi -Fxzd" console terminal command, so that is a good thing.

If your media server is connected to your "lan", you do not need UPnP/DLNA to view or play the content because that should be visible to your Linux Mint system.
