Whenever I start up or shut down the machine, it makes a loud popping sound I'm running Linux Mint 18.3, however it seems to do it with all distros.
Is there any way of stopping it.
I have a OMEN pc.
Thanks

Re: Popping noise when starting up and shutting down
Could it be your speakers (internal or external)? I get that from my sound card, and haven't found a way to stop it except for turning off the external amplifier.SpeedyWheels222 wrote: ⤴Mon Jun 25, 2018 10:45 am Whenever I start up or shut down the machine, it makes a loud popping sound I'm running Linux Mint 18.3, however it seems to do it with all distros.

if this popping sound comes on before the grub menu then your hardware is the issue. what's an OMEN pc?

Mute your speakers. See if you still hear the sound. I had a laptop that would do this, related to audio.
