Linux stops recognizing sound drivers after reboot/close laptop lid

I have this issue with my HP 6830S laptop. Running Mint 19 64 bit Sound works great before closing lid. After suspend mode when lifting the lid, the Speakers disappear from the sound settings leaving only the Headphones to be found. Some info that may help troubleshoot below. Let me know what other info you need to fix the issue. Thanks in advance for your help...

Try installing pavucontrol from software manager or synaptic package manager and then test the sound with that.

I installed pavucontrol as you suggested. Closed the lid and I have sound. Gave it a true test and rebooted, closed the lid for a minute, reopened and sound played.
