DVD Menu not Working

Hey everyone. Typing this from a different computer, so I can't get inxi at the time, but if it becomes needed I can do so. Basically, I have a specific DVD that's menu doesn't work. It works on Windows, so I know that the DVD isn't broken. However, under Linux, the menu doesn't work. The options are not selectable. This is not normal since other DVDs work 100% fine, only this one has problems. I have tested it on two Linux Mint PCs, and it works on neither. I have installed the codecs.

Is there any way to get this to work?

Hi StevenC21,

Does the DVD play? Is this a home made DVD or a store bought DVD? We assume you have installed the 3rd party software during the Mint installation, if not install "mint-meta-codecs". I always suggest installing from the "Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)", "ubuntu-restricted-extras", "udftools" with its recommend and suggested packages, regionset.

You can try installing the "totem" multimedia player and its plug-ins which shows up as videos in your menu.

Hi StevenC21,

I forgot to mention that you should restart after installing all that stuff before playing the DVD.

FYI: You installed a 32-bit Linux Mint 18.3 Xfce when your computer is actually a 64-bit computer. You should really download and install the 64-bit Linux Mint Xfce immediately after backing up anything you need to save first.

Do not forget that you should really install the 64-bit version of Linux Mint rather than use the 32-bit version for many good reasons including that a lot of software is not being developed or maintained any longer for 32-bit computers and 32-bit operating systems...
