Hi again, grivusag.

First try BG405's suggestion of pulseaudio -k in the terminal. Wait a moment then open the sound settings and see if HDMI is there.

Also, be absolutely certain it's fully plugged in at both ends.

Oh, and be certain the TV is not muted or has sound all the way down to 0 as well. (If it's still the same issue as before, this isn't as important yet.)

If none of this works, I'll have you try upgrading alsa next.

In this case, the OP doesn't have any HDMI options in any audio settings.

For your case, I don't know what you've tried, but my first suggestion would be to run alsamixer in the terminal, press F6 and select your HDMI option, and check to see if the output is muted.

If that doesn't work and you're up to trying again, I am happy to try to help get it sorted. You should start your own thread though if that's the case.

In the sound settings, in Output tab the built-in-audio was set to Analog Stereo Duplex. Change the mode to HDMI output Stereo. Note that you must be connected to an external monitor through a HDMI cable to see HDMI output option otherwise it will not show up.

sudo gedit /etc/pulse/default.pa
commented out this line --> load-module module-switch-on-port-available

If you don't have gedit installed use any text editor such as leafpad,etc

I found one other possibility to try before we try upgrading alsa. In the terminal type exactly (or paste from this):

sudo adduser $grivus audio

It will probably return adduser: the group 'audio' already exists. But according to this it fixes some permissions problem. I don't understand how it's working, but it worked for the author as well as 1 of the people in the comments section.

Now close up everything and reboot. Did that get something similar to HDMI/DisplayPort 2 – Built-in Audio to show up in sound settings?

If no, close the sound settings and try one more time pulseaudio -k then check again after a moment.

If still not working we'll do the alsa upgrade.

You are posting images that I'm not sure why you're posting. (Also not sure why you have 32-bit versions of some stuff.)

Did you follow the set of instructions in my last post?

Also, for clarity, did you upgrade to 19 or did you do a fresh install?
