Hello,
I just installed Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon (newbie, sorry !) on my Asus E200HA computer, and I am having trouble with sound.
The computer does not recognize any sound card (for example in pavucontrol) and does not run alsamixer.
Furthermore, the command lspci does not show any sound card.
And in my basic sound panel when I try to fix the issue, the only output suggested is "dummy output".
Has anyone got a solution for me ?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Sound card not detected
Yes, you are right, audio hardware is not detected.
Have you tried installing a newer kernel ? Audio modules and drivers are included in the linux kernel.
Update Manager > View > Linux Kernels
If it doesn't help, it is easy to revert back to your previous kernel. Just hold down the right Shift key during boot-up which will get you to the Grub menu. There you can choose to boot to the older kernel and then use the Update Manager to remove that one that doesn't work.

Re: Sound card not detected
If
lspci
indeed also doesn't show audio hardware the really only reason (other than said hardware having just gone up in flames, say) can be that it's disabled in the BIOS.Re: Sound card not detected
There's a weird fix I'm trying to find for the E200HA.
Well, what do you know, the forum advanced search actually helped me...
Mesaan, please run
I'll wait to post the fix until that is confirmed.

Mesaan, please run
aplay -l
in the terminal and paste the result back here. While it won't find any card, I'm hoping it does tell us something like cx2072x for the codec.I'll wait to post the fix until that is confirmed.
Re: Sound card not detected
Well, it looks like the aplay isn't going to help. I'll just post a link to where I made this suggestion last time to another E200HA user: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=274487&p=1504144&h ... t#p1504144
Please take heed of the warnings I've posted. Also notice the following post where the user said they ran the script and upon reboot, everything worked great.
Good luck.
