Set default sound output device

If I boot my desktop from cold (it's dual boot with win10) only one sound output device is shown - the built in audio on the m/board. This is fine, it's what I want as my default sound output.

If I first boot into win10 and then restart and boot into mint, I see two output devices, the headphones on my oculus rift and line-out on the m/board. Mint while giving me startup sounds on line-out, then defaults to the rift headphones and all sound goes to that until I change it manually to line-out.

Is there any way of making mint default to line-out when it can see the rift headphones? I'm running LM19.0 cinnamon.

Hi AndyMH.

I believe this should work. If you don't already have it, install and run PulseAudio Volume Control (pavucontrol) and on the Output Devices tab, make sure there is no checkmark for Set as Fallback next to the Rift Audio selection, and there is a checkmark for the Built-in Audio selection.

Pavucontrol - yes on my laptop, no on the desktop giving me trouble. Thanks, I'll give it a go.
