Media Player and MPEG-4 AAC?

Post by Kendoori »

New install of 19.1 Cinnamon. I installed the extras and VLC has no issues with MP4; however, when I use the default media player, I first get this:

and then I get this:

Hitting install in the dialog does nothing. I checked in Synaptic and these packages are already installed. I also did:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install --reinstall mint-meta-codecs
and

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
This was already installed.

I've switched over to VLC as the default, but am curious as to what is the problem.

Something is missing in your post. Did you try to insert images?

I tried using TiileLibre from Shutter to post and for some reason, it only shows properly in Chrome. I can verify that it doesn't work in FF. I've updated the post with the links.
