Hi quiloos39, and welcome to the forum.

As you had sound then lost it, you will probably be fixed by deleting the files in /home/YourUserName/.config/pulse then running pulseaudio -k in the terminal. Wait a few seconds then test. If you are using a browser, it will probably need to be restarted as well.

Hope that helps.

That could be really hard to diagnose, but running dmesg | grep snd in the terminal when it's not working might give a clue. A full shutdown instead of reboot may lessen the chances of it happening.

Hi,

Not sure if you already passed this station, but here is my take:
I had a similar problem with a Zenbook and Mint 18.3 Cinamon (and a dual boot with Windows 10). No sound from internal speakers, but external sound (hdmi & headphone) works.

After trying most things mentioned in this posting and others and even re-install Mint, the problem remained.

In the end the solution was quite simple:
Disable quick boot both in Windows and in bios. Apparently the internal speaker goes into hibernation mode and does not wake up.
