I am using Mint 18.3 and Firefox 65.0. I added an add-on called Flash Video Downloader or FVD. It works fine in most cases but it says that it needs a converter for HD video and gives me the link to get that converter. http://fvdmedia.com/installation-guide- ... vers=1.0.8 & http://fvdmedia.com/fvd-quick-guide-new/
I chose to use the package for Ubuntu 18.x (deb) 64 bit .
Then there are directions to install the over 100 dependencies it needs.
Code: Select all
sudo dpkg -i fvd-module_xxxx-x_xxxx.deb
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install -f
So I tried to substitute the actual name of the file where are the "x's" are in the terminal command... no joy, it still said it can't find the file which is in the downloads folder.
So I chose to use the option of the GDebi package installer to install the files, of course I never had to use the terminal to do that...{wrong thing to do I am guessing}.
But it took some time and appeared to be installing the files, when I tried to re-install them it said they are already in place. I rebooted FF only to find its still asking for that converter! Running the first command line in the terminal now tells me "dpkg: error: dpkg frontend is locked by another process"
I wasn't that happy about installing 100+ dependencies that's for sure, so I look in Synaptic and lo and behold there is the "fvd-module" v1.0.8-4 shows that it's installed.
Not sure what to do now. Abandon the FVD program and use Synaptic to remove the dependencies, if it will?
Thanks to all in advance,
