Pixels and monitor display problems

Post by WHVW »

Hi All:

I am using an RCA TV/monitor with an old Dell Optiplex GX-270 running 19.1. There ate two display choices:

1. a "dot by dot" 4x3 display centred in the screen, but the display area does not extend top to bottom; (the proper display would be top to bottom, but not extending to the edan ges of the 5x9 screen.
2. "wide" which does extend top to bottom, but also edger to edge, thereby stretching the display.

The computer offers two 4x3 display options for that monitor, 1024x768 and 800x600. The latter, as one would expect, displays as a smaller box. It says the monitor is "undetected".Haveing used this machine with other monitors, I know it can display a higher pixel level.

Does anyone know of a way I could force a higher pixel count? Say, 1141x1521?

Or, perhaps another, better, approach?

Thanks.
