No audio [Solved]

Post by TheRealKizu » Tue Oct 22, 2019 9:00 pm

Hi! I'm new to Linux. After updating mint yesterday, the audio didn't work anymore. How can I fix this

sudo lspci | grep Audio Output:
00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio (rev 21)
01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation Device 0fbc (rev a1)

pulseaudio -k Output:
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to kill daemon: No such process

Hi TheRealKizu, and welcome to the forum.

E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to kill daemon: No such process indicates pulseaudio wasn't running at all. See if pulseaudio --start works.

If that fails, then run pulseaudio -vvv and paste the output here.

If you need more help, also please include the output of inxi -Fxz and aplay -l as well.

Good luck.

Here's the error from pulseaudio -vvv:

Code: Select all

E: [pulseaudio] module.c: Module "module-udev-detect" should be loaded once at most. Refusing to load.
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Module load failed.
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to initialize daemon.
I: [pulseaudio] module.c: Unloading "module-filter-apply" (index: #19).
My guess would have been you have a default.pa file in /home/YourUserName/.config/pulse that has something incorrect, or you messed around with /etc/pulse/default.pa, such that module-udev-detect is trying to be loaded twice.

If you've made some correction to get everything but Youtube working, have you tried restarting the browser?
