why speech-dispacher?

Post by oldgranola »

Just curious why the process speech-dispacher would run when I have no reason for text-to-speach? I do have several firefox windows up. LM19.3 Cinnamon.

Code: Select all

Something probably loaded it (Chromium?) so the espeak functionality would be available.

Run killall speech-dispatcher to stop it.

Also, check your Session and Startup > Application Autostart settings (that's the name in Xfce, unsure about others) to see if Orca is enabled. Disable it if so.
